Knowing why we hurt is key to knowing how to manage chronic pain effectively.
How do you let people know about something very exciting that would be helpful to millions of people? It is much harder than you might think. I work in an amazing pain rehabilitation program that provides the help that people need who have been suffering from chronic pain for decades. But getting this news out to those who need it is an uphill battle.
Every time I sit down to watch the news on television, I am bombarded with ads, many of them focused on medications for chronic pain. This type of advertising drowns out the message that comes from evidence-based (research-based) programs that actually help increase strength, flexibility, and endurance, and management pain effectively without medications. The problem with getting this exciting, hopeful message out is money for the advertising! That is why I rely on less expensive modes of getting the message of hope and freedom out, like podcasts.
